Dr.Quincy D. Citizen, D.D.(h.c.), B.Msc., M.Msc.

Hi all!
I am a humanitarian who’s passionate about and dedicated to mental health and mental healthcare. I founded this organization in 2015 after realizing that there was a major lack of resources for mental healthcare and for covering the expensive costs associated with mental healthcare that is occurring at a national level. My primary goal is to help as many as I can while also helping to combat the stigma surrounding mental health through education and inspiration. Empathetic is the best word I can choose to describe myself, and I make it a point to be very hands on with this organization and our patients.
I have served in the US Medical Reserve Corps for the past 4 years as a Medical Incident Responder, Crisis Intervention Counselor, public health advocate, and doing case management. I was 1 of 3 to receive a Certificate or Congratulation from Senator José Menendéz for my efforts in providing critical disaster relief needs during a disaster in 2015. I am currently a doctoral candidate for a PhD Specializing in Transpersonal Counseling, and a PhD  Specializing in Comparative Religion. In addition, I have an Honorary Doctorate in Metaphysics. I also have an education background in psychology, human services, professional emergency medical services, and medical assisting.
I serve as the Executive Director, a Counselor, and the Behavioral Mental Health Manager, and I enjoy every part and orifice of it and put my all into it. I feel like I would be wasting my life and doing a great disservice to those who came after me who were in neend of mental health and/or substance abuse services but could not receive them because of the stigma or the fact that they were uninsured, underinsured, and/or resides close to the poverty line or the fact that the local VA wait-listed its mental health patients which is substantial reason 22 veterans commit suicide everyday. I am fortunate enough to possess a database that is used company wide that informs us if facilities in the area of the callers who are suicidal and in crises that also happen to be vets have facilities in their area other than the VA that accept their insurance, and many of them do.
I am extremely passionate about what I do, and I am working daily to attempt to improve the services we offer in order to ensure that we continue to go above and beyond of achieving our mission of providing a pathway of recovery to all, while combating the stigma of mental health through education and inspiration.
In my spare time, I love traveling, reading, nature, and animals!
Below is an interview segment on Houston’s Fox 26 with Isiah Carey, myself, and Dr. Asim Shah discussing suicide following Kate Spade and Anthony Bourdain’s death in which I opened up about my own suicide attempt and what brought me to that point.
